One is make people laugh, especially people I love and the other is to help people figure things out inside themselves.”  Mike is not only a single father with full custody of his teenage son and daughter he is a recovering addict with almost two decades of recovery and experience. “Its almost like I have two different stage acts. There’s the regular comedy scene where I do all my day to day life stuff then there’s the recovery material that I do mainly for the recovery community. I very rarely talk about recovery in mainstream clubs..which is the way I am in life .. I LIVE recovery I don’t necessarily have to talk about it.”

Mike took to the stage at 32 which is a little older than most. He spent a few years grinding it out before taking a break like many comics do.. In 2009 Mike decided that his love for comedy was too strong so he hit the stage full speed ahead and hasn’t slowed down. Mike works regularly at most clubs in NYC as well as comedy clubs up and down the east coast. You can also hear Mike on his weekly podcast “The Mike Gaffney Show”
